ABOUT UNIVERSITY OF MUMBAI'S ACADEMY OF THEATRE ARTS
The Academy of Theatre Arts was established in August 2003. The University of Mumbai initiated this Academy keeping in mind the dearth of theatre training institutes in Mumbai, despite the city being the main centre of theatre activity in the country. The Academy has taken long stride at national and international level within a short span of fifteen years and it has become one of the leading theatre training institutes in India.

BA HONORS (UNDER GRADUATE)

B.A. (Hons.) in Professional Filmmaking prepares the new generation of storytellers with the creative and technical skills crucial to step and succeed in today’s film, television and online media industries. Students will develop an understanding of movements in film, style and associated critical analysis skills, as well as a thorough appreciation of contemporary industry practice.

The M.A. in Profession Filmmaking provides opportunities for students to examine the evolution of cinema, from classical film theory to post-classical and current issues in film distribution. This Masters course is designed to equip students with a range of practical and intellectual skills that will enable them to gain employment in the media and entertainment industries. This course is accredited by the University of Mumbai and we have award-winning mentors for the industry. The Masters program is designed to make 360 Degree Industry Ready Professional Film Maker, who understands all aspects of film making from a business, aesthetics and technology perspective. PG Diploma In Filmmaking trains students in all the stages of production and that is Pre-Production, Production and Post-Production. The programme emphasises on production of short films, ad films and fiction films in which students handle all the aspects of production. Within the country, the animation industry is thriving, and there is a huge potential for animation professionals. This 12 Months Diploma programme is designed to prepare graduates for careers in animation in the fields of Digital film, video games, television and online production. As a student, you will have the opportunity to bring characters and stories to life. You will create a variety of 2D and 3D animations concepts using your creative abilities with drawing, animation, and production techniques, as well as your strong storytelling abilities. The production pipeline and the ability to take an animation project from concept to completion (Pre-production to Post-Production) are critical components of this programme. You will work in collaborative learning environments and create work for your portfolio. MSCPA – Diploma in Cinematography (DIC) – One-Year Program is a two-semester, full-time, non-degree programme based in a conservatory. This means that students will work at a faster pace and with a greater degree of commitment as they acquire new skills and create a body of work. The curriculum is structured in such a way that students are immersed in all facets of the discipline. MSCPA provides a creative environment in which students are challenged, inspired, and developed through an intensive curriculum. Whether our cinematography students are new to the industry or are seasoned professionals looking to brush up on their skills, our courses in exposure, composition, set etiquette, and lighting will push them to develop new mastery by the end of the year. This course prepares students for a career as a Cinematographer, Director of Photography (DOP), Camera Person across all screen industries. This means that students will work at a faster pace and with a greater degree of commitment as they acquire new skills and create a body of work. The curriculum is structured in such a way that students are immersed in all facets of the discipline. MSCPA provides a creative environment in which students are challenged, inspired, and developed through an intensive curriculum. Whether our directing students are new to the industry or are seasoned professionals looking to brush up on their skills, our course will push them to develop new mastery by the end of the year. Diploma in Direction is a hands-on course that provides multiple opportunities for practical production across all platforms and different genres of filmmaking. It will enhance students’ storytelling skills and technical understanding of film, television, OTT and transmedia production. This program covers all aspects of technical and creative editing skills vital to working in a variety of genres, ranging from the editing of your own short-film to documentary, multi-camera concert and comedy. Artistic Experience
Through closely-mentored projects, apply technical elements to the creation of an artistic experience in a specific discipline (Directing, Editing, Cinematography, Sound Design, Producing, and Production Design).
Film Language
